What we do with your firm’s work.

A trademark practice holds its clients’ plans before they are public. This page says plainly who can see what, where the records come from and what Nishaan leaves to you.

Who sees what.

Every record in Nishaan is either a public record shared by every firm, or your firm’s own work. Choose any item to see why.

Shared by every firm

Public records

    Only your firm

    Your workspace

Your firm’s work stays in your workspace

      • Each firm has its own workspace. Your portfolio, cases, letters, reports and settings are visible only to people your firm adds.
      • Public records, such as the journals, the oppositions register and the hearing boards, are shared by every firm.
      • Owners decide who joins and can remove a colleague at any time.

      Sign-in

      • Passwords are stored as one-way hashes, never as text.
      • A sign-in lasts one day on a browser, then asks again.
      • Password reset links work once, for one hour.

      The IP India connection

      • Live e-Register look-ups use a session a person in your firm opens with IP India’s own OTP.
      • No IP India password is stored. The session ends after about 30 minutes.
      • Look-ups are spaced a few seconds apart so IP India is not flooded.

      AI help

      • AI features use Anthropic’s Claude. Only what a request needs is sent: a logo, the examination report you upload, or the details of the marks on the form.
      • Anthropic does not train its models on what Nishaan sends.
      • AI never files, sends or decides anything. Every answer is a draft or an opinion for you to check.

      Where the records come from

      • The weekly Trade Marks Journal and the Registry notices printed in it.
      • The oppositions register and IP India’s public hearing boards.
      • e-Register data, loaded by the platform administrator or looked up live through your connection.

      What it leaves to you.

Nishaan is software for your practice. It does not file anything with the Registry, contact anyone on your behalf or give legal advice.

      • Matching covers marks in the same class. Related goods in other classes are left to your judgment.
      • Logos of the same idea are matched from what AI sees in each logo. It can miss one or flag a weak one, so look at logo matches yourself.
      • AI drafts and match reviews can be wrong. Read every word before it goes to the Registry or a client.
      • Logo marks with no readable text are counted in every journal so you can check them in the journal PDF.
      • Dates are worked out from the Trade Marks Act and Rules. Check important ones against the Registry before you act.

      Read the details.

The privacy policy covers what we store and why. The data guide explains each source, and the journal watch guide lists every matching rule.
