New filings for your clients

A client can ask you to file a new trademark from their portal or the Nishaan app: the mark, a logo, what it is used for, who applies and since when it is in use. Nishaan can suggest classes from their description. You can also start a filing yourself from the client's New filings tab; the client is told and asked for the documents.

New requests show at the top of Clients and on Today in the app. The person who handles the client gets an email and a notification.

Each filing lists the documents it needs, worked out from who applies and whether the mark is in use: ID or incorporation papers, the signed TM-48, the logo, and a user affidavit with proof of use. The client uploads each one from the filing, and you are told when it arrives. When you move a filing to its next step or add a note, the client is told too.

  1. Start preparing tells the client you have started and asks for the documents.
  2. Draft the application in Drafting (Form TM-A) and file it on IP India.
  3. Mark as filed and type the application number, or several separated by commas.

The mark then joins your Portfolio under that client, and journal watch, deadlines and updates follow it like any other mark. The client is told at each step. A client can withdraw a request until you start on it; after that they message you.
